At J2 we offer a wide range of services to suit every person, from the weekend warrior to the amateur athlete, through to the elite. At J2 we believe in an integrated model of strength & conditioning and physiotherapy strategies, to enhance athletic performance in both training and injury rehabilitation. This model has been developed through a wide range of experiences in high performance and recreational sport. Our experiences as athletes, strength coaches and physiotherapists at varying levels of sport, allow us to have a unique understanding of the mental and physical demands of sport and injury. We believe that with the right tools and knowledge every person has the ability to be at their best.

Our integrated model of strength & conditioning and physiotherapy for both athletic performance and injury rehabilitation has been developed after seeing and using it successfully in professional sport. We believe this model has the opportunity to change the way people view their training and/or injury rehabilitation in the private setting. Our model sees both strength coach and physiotherapist involved in planning and developing training and rehabilitation plans. We also have close relationships with some of New Zealand’s best sport dieticians to offer nutrition support. We believe this detailed approach, at this stage only seen in professional sport in New Zealand, gives you the client the best possible opportunity to achieve your training or rehabilitation goals.

    The J2 Athletic development program provides one of the only full athletic development models outside of a high-performance sports organisation in New Zealand.

    This model includes extensive performance and physiotherapy testing, monitoring and training throughout the program. With the ever-increasing demands and pressures of both amateur and elite athletes through both youth and adult pathways, it is important you optimise your training approach to perform at your best and most of all stay healthy. There is extensive literature to suggest that athletes that complete more training sessions during a calendar year are more likely to achieve their performance goals.

  • J2 Athletic performance offers a wide range of gym programming options to clients both in person and online. Our programs offer highly individualised and specific training based off an in-depth initial assessment to understand your goals, lifestyle, training preferences, training age and previous injury.

    These programs run for a minimum of 8 weeks but can be increased depending on your goals or upcoming events. J2 athletic performance programs are currently run through TrueCoach application, available through all app stores, meaning high level training is just a click of a button away. This app allows an interactive approach to your training with demonstration videos, athlete data entry and an interactive messaging feature that allows us to monitor progress and make changes to your program as needed.

    We believe that everyone needs structure and individualisation to their training no matter their goal. Having a specific plan allows you to be accountable for your daily training and means to can rest assured you are maximising every session.

    This is not your average weight-loss challenge, this will be individually designed to improve your general strength and fitness and help you learn what works for you along the way! We know now more than ever the importance of exercise for both mental and physical health and well-being.

    At J2 we believe feeling strong and fit can go a long way towards improving your health and well-being. This challenge will offer a high level of programming, training and support to maximise the use of your time and efforts. We will also offer pre-challenge physiotherapy screening to ensure you are doing all you can to be safe in your training and promote longevity.

  • Athletic Performance Coach

    Jared has been involved in playing professional sports over the last 10 years. Where he was a part of the Blues, Counties Manukau Steelers & North Harbour rugby. It’s where he grew his passion for Strength & Conditioning after being exposed to high performance sport & working alongside some of the best Strength & Conditioning Coaches in the country.

    After having multiple Knee & Foot Operations, He decided to shift his focus and step away from playing and helping others reach their full potential and live a healthier lifestyle.

    Jared has the understanding and experience of the high demands of reaching your peak performance mentally and physically. He is very passionate in helping others achieve that and giving them to tools to be at their best.


  • Sports physiotherapist/ Rehabilitation coach

    Qualifications: Bachelor of Science (Sport and Exercise), Bachelor of Health Science (Physiotherapy), Postgraduate diploma Sport and Exercise Medicine.

    Jarrod has spent the last 10 plus years developing his knowledge and expertise in physiotherapy, rehabilitation and strength and conditioning. After multiple knee and shoulder surgeries himself, Jarrod has a huge passion for helping people rehabilitate their injuries to return to their highest level of performance or well-being and get back to doing the things they love. Having a unique understanding of both physiotherapy and strength and conditioning allows Jarrod to optimize performance through-out the rehabilitation process.

    Jarrod is currently the rehabilitation and return to play physiotherapist for the Hurricanes Super rugby team and Head of medical at Counties-Manukau rugby/ Head physiotherapist for the Steeler’s during the NPC competition.


  • After graduating from AUT in 2017 Rebecca has spent the last seven years working in musculoskeletal private practice before coming to J2. Rebecca has also been involved in a high-performance sporting environment as an athlete for many years playing rugby both in Farah Palmer Cup, playing for the Counties Energy Heat, and in Super Rugby Aupiki, being a member of the 2024 Super Rugby Aupiki Championship winning nib Blues.

    Throughout her sporting career Rebecca has had multiple injuries requiring surgery and long periods of rehab. Rebecca believes high level rehab should be accessible to everyone, not just athletes. This personal experience of injuries allows Rebecca to relate to her patients and drives her to see her patients return to their full potential post injury, whether this be top level sport or general day-to-day activities.
